Vermentino

The winter of 2025 was mild, with few temperature drops below 0°C and limited rainfall during the first part of the season, increasing toward spring. The abundant spring rains delayed budbreak by approximately two weeks and promoted strong early vine growth. From early June onwards, weather conditions shifted, becoming drier with elevated temperatures that were often above the seasonal average.

A vintage marked by a very rainy spring, which increased water reserves but also required careful management of downy mildew, although without causing any significant damage to the vineyards. Summer then continued with warm, dry, and stable weather, free from extreme conditions, allowing for a slow and even ripening of the grapes. At the end of August, shortly before ripening was complete, abundant rainfall led to an increase in berry size, enhancing the grapes’ aromatic characteristics more than their polyphenolic and structural components. The result is wines that are fresh, vibrant, and highly drinkable.

After a fairly mild winter with little rainfall, spring started slowly, with slightly lower than average temperatures, which delayed vegetative regeneration. May throughout until mid-June extremely rainy. The season was characterized by heavy pressure from Peronospora, caused by weather conditions that also made it difficult to enter the field and work to protect the vines. Downy mildew damage with production losses in Tuscany averaging 30% (damage spread throughout Italy, France and Spain). A record heat in July, with temperatures exceeding 40°C, but thanks to vineyard operations we were able to protect the clusters from the high temperatures, and the vineyards did not suffer from drought. The entire harvest period with no rain and very high temperatures, even above 25°C throughout October. In this vintage we have wines with medium structure and good flavour profiles. Good quality of tannins, although full phenolic maturity was not achieved in all vineyards.
